An Application of MS Excel for Data Fitting with Ordinary Differential Equations in Chemical Reaction Engineering
Abstract
Explorations of the 4th order Runge-Kutta method for ordinary differential equations (ODEs) on MS Excel spreadsheet are constructed in this paper. Appling the least square method, unknown constant(s) in ODEs can be found out by fitting given data with the desired curve using Solver Excel. Numerical solutions for two selected problems in chemical reaction engineering are also proposed and carried out. This article indicates the powerful applicability of MS Excel in mathematical engineering problems.
